About the Class:

In the Creative Arts, Play & Emotions class of Explorers by Nature School, Pre Kindergarten-2nd graders (3.5-8 years) will be introduced to a variety of art mediums through nature-inspired art projects, and process art to allow children to tap into their creative inner artists! Explorers will also have the opportunity to engage in active games, including obstacle courses, and other playful nature-inspired movement activities. Social-emotional learning will be weaved throughout our day in a variety of ways to emphasize nature play, and art. We will learn to identify and manage our emotions in healthy ways, enjoy purposeful read-alouds focused on social-emotional growth, create art as a way to express ourselves, as well as learn how to be a part of a community where every child is welcome and celebrated! This class will meet each Thursday for three hours, (with an option to extend the day for up to five hours of outdoor play and exploration, contact for more information). Our daily rhythm of class will include open exploration with a snack time, a child-led nature hike, lunchtime, creative arts, movement/games, ending with closing circle to reflect on our time spent in nature together. Come prepared for hands-on, active, exciting and sometimes even messy learning in nature with friends! This is an eight-week program that will meet at rotating East County SD parks, gardens and farms. Our eight-week session also includes a field trip! Every part of your child's day with Explorers by Nature is thoughtfully designed to meet their varied needs: social-emotional, physical, and educational. Children are given autonomy of their time with Explorers by Nature, through free time, creative art exploration, child-led hikes, and planned activities that are intended to be child-led. Granting our children this independence builds self-confidence and allows explorers to discover new passions and interests. Interested in both the Tuesday and Thursday Class?
